Founded in September of 2020, Angel Planet Foods has a small yet steadily growing team of dedicated individuals that take pride in developing, cooking, and selling delicious, healthy, all-natural plant-based food across North Jersey. Each with their own unique backgrounds and set of skills, they work cohesively to bring you the best quality of product and customer service they can offer.

Zheng Song

Founder and CEO

Zheng Song founded Angel Planet Foods in 2020 to pursue a dream of creating a plant-based food company to address the environmental problems caused by the meat agriculture industry. Zheng spent over 25 years working in the finance industry and traveled throughout Asia. She discovered that Asian cuisine's rich flavors, fresh plant-based ingredients, and unique textures eradicated her desire to eat meat. Inspired by her daughter, who chose to become a vegan in 2010, Zheng became passionate about bringing high-quality plant-based food to American consumers. Since launching the company, she has developed products with world-renowned chefs and recipe developers, analyzing the products' nutritional values and building a team to produce consistently high-quality products. Now, she proudly offers 100% plant-based, Non-GMO certified, Gluten Free, minimally processed, clean products that taste great on eCommerce platforms and through retailers. Angel Planet Foods is a fast-growing company that will benefit from the consumers' demand for healthy plant-based foods and future generations' need for a sustainable environment. Zheng grew up in Beijing, China, and has an undergraduate degree from Indiana University and an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

James Corwell

Certified Master Chef

Culinary Advisor

James Corwell is an award-winning chef and he has been working with Angel Plaent Foods since December 2021. He spent four years at the Culinary Institute of America as a lead instructor and executive chef and is a member of an elite group of less than 70 Certified Master Chefs in the United States. James is passionate about developing plant-based meat alternatives that will meet the food needs of the global population with more eco-friendly approaches. 

James is working with Angel Planet Foods in developing plant-based products addressing human wellness and food-related climate issues.  In the 35 years at the pinnacle of the epicurean world, James has spent the last decade committed to creating a variety of plant-based products that are sustainable, accessible, and affordable to consumers, food professionals, and businesses.

 

James was the Chef and Chief Innovation Officer of both Tomato Sushi and Ocean Hugger Foods, the first company to address sashimi and raw sushi in the plant-based world.  James was awarded Best New Chef of 2010 and his restaurant Le Foret was awarded Best New Restaurant of 2010 by New Orleans Magazine.  He also served as executive chef at Wine Spectator Greystone Restaurant in California. 

 

Angel Planet Foods is excited to have James’ help to grow the company.  His innovative and collaborative approach has made positive impact on our product line as we work toward larger scale sales and production.

Nick Decker

Co-Founder and CFO

Nick Decker has over 30 years of entrepreneurial and financial industries experience. He has lived in and traveled in Asia for four years. His experience in Asia was formative in regard to the need to increase support for an environmentally sustainable future. Nick is a co-founder of Angel Planet Foods and was instrumental in acquiring the central kitchen for the company and is in charge of the company's finance and operations. Prior, he worked at JP Morgan Chase in New York, as well as with Deloitte. In addition to the finance expertise Nick brings to Angel Planet Foods, he also ensures that all the technical aspects of the company management and production run smoothly. His first experience with the vegetarian living was in the 1990s and he has observed the innovations in the food industry and would like to be part of the plant-based food industry revolution. Nick earned his undergraduate degree from the State University of New York at Albany.

Libo Sui

Kitchen Manager

Libo Sui is originally from China and has over 25 years of culinary and restaurant management experience. He previously owned and operated one of the best restaurants in Dalian China. At Angel Planet Foods, Libo's strong work ethic and attention to detail are instrumental in managing the kitchen and ensures that the food production is flawless each week. Not only is he an expert in Asian cuisine, he is also knowledgeable about American food and safety requirements to ensure product quality. Libo works with chefs and advisors to bring innovative plant-based food to consumers while also certifying that the food is authentic to our brand and Asian cuisine.

Wendy Xia

Quality Manager

Wendy joined Angel Planet Foods in November 2021 and she has extensive culinary experience. She is a perfectionist and her attention to detail is instrumental in creating consistency in Angel Planet Foods’ products’ quality. Her exact measurements approach produces products that are loved by customers and pave the way for new product development. Wendy is creative and she collaborates with our recipe developers to bring innovative plant-based food to consumers while also certifying that the food is authentic to our brand and Asian cuisine.
