Meet the Founders

Founded in September of 2020, Angel Planet Foods has a small yet steadily growing team of dedicated individuals who take pride in developing, branding, manufacturing  and selling delicious, healthy, all-natural plant-based food across Northeast. Each with their own unique backgrounds and set of skills, they work cohesively to bring you the best quality of products to our distribution and retail partners. 


Zheng Song

Founder and CEO

Zheng Song founded Angel Planet Foods in 2020 to pursue a dream of creating a plant-based Asian food company to address the environmental problems caused by the meat agriculture industry. Zheng spent over 25 years in finance and traveled throughout Asia. She discovered that Asian cuisine's rich flavors, fresh plant-based ingredients, and unique textures eradicated her desire to eat meat. Inspired by her daughter, who became vegan in 2012, Zheng became passionate about bringing high-quality plant-based food to American consumers. Since launching the company, she has developed products with world-renowned chefs and recipe developers, analyzing the products' nutritional values and building a team to produce consistently high-quality products. She proudly offers 100% plant-based, Non-GMO verified, Gluten Free, minimally processed, clean products that taste great in over 130 retail stores and on eCommerce platforms. Angel Planet Foods is a fast-growing company that will benefit from the consumers' demand for healthy plant-based foods and future generations' need for a sustainable environment. Zheng grew up in Beijing, China, and has an undergraduate degree from Indiana University and an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

Nick Decker

Co-Founder and CFO

Nick Decker has over 30 years of entrepreneurial and financial industry experience. He has lived in and traveled in Asia for four years. His experience in Asia was formative regarding the need to increase support for an environmentally sustainable future. Nick is a co-founder of Angel Planet Foods and was instrumental in acquiring the central kitchen for the company and is in charge of the company's finance and operations. Before, he worked at JP Morgan Chase in New York and with Deloitte. In addition to the finance expertise Nick brings to Angel Planet Foods, he also ensures that all the technical aspects of the company management and production run smoothly. His first experience with vegetarian living was in the 1990s, and he has observed the innovations in the food industry. He would like to be part of the plant-based food industry revolution. Nick earned his undergraduate degree from the State University of New York at Albany.
